CRAIG, PTE JAMES – Regimental # 657694

James Edward Craig was born October 3, 1895 in Dunchurch. His parents were William and Frances (Dobbs) Craig. James married Rosie Wager, daughter of Overton and Susan Wager. (Rosie was the sister of George Wager). James and Rosie had three children: William James Craig born December 17, 1924; Albert Grant Craig born November 22, 1931 and James Patrick Craig born March 17, 1936.

James enlisted March 20, 1916 in the 162nd Battalion, C.E.F. He arrived in England December 5, 1916 and was assigned to the 36th Reserve Battalion. On December 28, 1916 he was assigned to the 2nd Canadian Pioneers. On June 4, 1918 he was identified as being part of the 5th Battalion Canadian Engineers where he remained for the rest of his service. On January 21, 1919 James was hospitalized and appears to have continued to be identified as being ill until April of 1919. He was discharged May 8, 1919.
